The Research Center on Economics and Social Affairs, CIES is a non-profit organization created in 1992. In 1999 CIES founded the University of Barcelona’s CISC, (the Centre on Citizenship and Civil Society) and, in 2002 CIES became a founding member of the " the emergence of social enterprises in Europe " (EMES) international network. www.emes.net). As well as a founding member of the International Society for Third Sector Research.
As well as being a genuine and acknowledged research center. CIES also is the provider of two on line post-graduate masters at the University of Barcelona. They are oriented to senior public administrators, executive chiefs, managers and consultants. The Master in Corporate Social Responsibility, Social Accounting and Auditing and the - Master in Social economy and third sector management. These are two high level international masters which provides the students with innovativ theories and methodology to cope with these groundbreaking fields.
During 1993-2000 CIES organized summer school to train and educate managers and professionals within social enterprises, public administration and organizations within the third sector.
CIES also organize seminars and conferences in the field of sustainable development, social enterprises and social consensus.
